Proscribe
Proscribe is a verb that means to forbid, condemn, or prohibit something. When something is proscribed, it is officially banned or outlawed. Proscribe can also be used to describe the act of condemning or denouncing someone or something. For instance, if a country proscribes a particular political group, it means they are officially condemning and outlawing that group’s activities. The word proscribe has Its roots in Latin, where “pro” means “before” and “scribere” means “to write.” In ancient Rome, when someone was proscribed, their name would be written on a list, and they would be declared an enemy of the state. It was a pretty serious deal back then.
